Course Overview -— Sequence Stratigraphy
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is intended to introduce through lectures and labs current concepts and techniques needed for interpreting a high resolution sequence stratigraphic framework in carbonate and clastic successions.
DESIGNED FOR
Exploration, production geologists, and geological managers
LEARNING OBJECTIVES

.Upon completion of this course participants should be able to:

  • directly apply the concepts of sequence stratigraphy to well-log correlationsand mapping for the purpose of regional to local (field-scale) investigations
  • use the interpretations to develop exploration strategies for stratigraphic traps or enhance production from existing fields
  • subdivide, correlate, and map stratigraphic units (reservoirs, seals, and source rocks) with well logs through the use of sequence stratigraphic concepts in a variety of non-marine, shallow-marine, and deep-marine environments in siliciclastic and carbonate settings.
